Work

It's a whole new thing.

I mean, what was I thinking? Full-time work and LCP. I was a total ostrich about this, without even being concious of it. So focussed on the end goal of finding work, work/AIESEC balance completely fell off the radar.

So now, I'm having individual team meetings this week, all between 7 and 9am. Yep - it's either before or after work with me, and I'm trying to make them combine that with their working in hospitality.

Random blah blah tonight. Not feeling well. But it's that sick-in-the-stomach feeling that something's about to go horribly wrong. Drama queen.

Next post on how great my LC is and how LCP/SM elections are going.

Goal Setting

Ok girl - it's time to get serious. Time to set some goals, time to feel consistency, time to get my shit together.

1. Lose X kg by 15 August 09. (haha - that one's for me to know...)
2. Exercise 3 times weekly - walking around the racecourse seems like a good place to start.
3. Save 20% of my pay weekly.
4. Travel to Germany (and International Trainer's Conference) in April 09. Franzi!!!!
5. Complete Certificate IV Training and Assessment.

AIESEC goals are there too, don't worry. In fact, there is only one thing that I should focus on improving in myself right now, because I think the LC will improve through it.

TRACKING.

For God's sake, if you ask me something and I don't know it, then please make me do an embarrassing dance and say Pink Lemon Carp Beans three times. (Mathematical equations are excluded from this)

Contributing member of society

Yesterday, Naomi from SYC saw an ad in the paper, and put me forward for it.

This morning, I went for the interview.

This afternoon, I got the job!

I am going to be working as a receptionist/administrative assistant. I'm also going to be trained up for my Cert IV Training and Assessment, so I can relieve the Trainer when she's on sick/annual leave.

Holy crap - I am so lucky. Kudos must go to the girls at SYC - they've supported me from the beginning. Everyone went out of their way to help me find work. Without them, I wouldn't be employed right now.

Here's cheers to success, full time work and the accompanying benefits (aka the ability to pay the rent!)

Kylie = Over the Moon

As an enemployed bogan of the lowest order, I have been regularly dropping into my Job Network provider, SYC. (not for profit, paid by the gvt for finding people jobs). Turns out, they can pay for certain things if it will mean you are more likely to get a job out of it.

So far they've bought me:

A course in MYOB - soon I'll be able to balance with the best of them!
About $90 worth of interview clothes - so I can look fiiiiiine!
And a haircut is coming on Monday morning - see above

And - the best, most coolest thing ever...

They are going to pay for me to do my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment! At the end of it, I'll be a cetified trainer, able to work in RTOs around Australia! Oh Shit I am soooo happy about this! *dances*

Throughout my time in AIESEC, I've always had a sneaking suspicion that I really enjoyed being up in front of people, teaching them things. State Conference gave me a chance to plan, design and implement sessions. Faciliate to 90 people. And I loved it. I want more! I want to get paid for it! :P

Pardon the lack of eloquence - just too damn excited!

Strategically Connecting our Impact

And with that, the reality of the SA Region was changed forever.
